Ahhhh Christal...  This is exquisite.  Excellent tones and detail and fuel to our lifelong fascination with lighthouses... Mike

I too have a weakness for ligthouses...;-)) this is  very beautiful in its form and well kept. Very nice as well is  your B/W execution and framing.

Christal, thank you for your contribution to my "North Head lighthouse". Please feel free to leave your contribution in the critique forum. Love your work here, The glimpses of the tree on the right frame forces the eye out to sea. Great scene, great interpretation and of course a great capture. Regards and have a great day. Bob

Ahhh my favourite subject! So glad I didn't miss this one. Nice crisp sharp image with excellent B & W tones and light. Your perspective allows you to capture it with no apparent distortion and that can be a chalenge in itself. I'd like to see more of the surroundings, get a feel for the environment where it's located. Did you manage to get any more shots of this lovely structure?

Very well done Christal!

Best Regards

Alf

Mike & Pnina…..I don’t know what it is that makes us fascinated with lighthouses, but I love them too, and I always go out of my way to find them.   They each have their own distinct ‘personalities’.  I have another one I’ll load when I get around to it.  Thanks!

Bob…..Thanks for your kind words, and I am glad to have discovered your work today.

Patsy…..thanks for stopping by, and I need to get over to see your work again soon.

Alf……happy to oblige.  This lighthouse was a bit peculiar in that it had a big building attached to it, so I was trying to get rid of that so the lighthouse would look more ‘lighthouse-ish’.  :-)   I’ll load this one straight from the camera in the color version.  Unfortunately this is as wide of a view as I took.

I love the clean look and designs over the portals and the railing on up.  Tones here are beautiful.  The attraction of lighthouses for me is the hopefulness they suggest and provide, as if someone is always watching to bring us in from storms -- a steadfastness, a haven.  This one has a pretty design.  I like Alf's suggestion to show the surrounding; your attachment gave another perspective.  Now I find myself wondering about the architectural influences... Anyway, I love this

I hope you do a lot of writing because you are one of the most articulate people with words I've even known.   Hearing you describe something so eloquently enriches me.....truly!  Thanks for your comment.

Excellent b/w conversion - compliments.  Imho the nice 'Spanish' construction of this lighthouse deserves to be show as a whole. ( Mybe you have and I missed it)

Donna certainly is a wonderful 'wordsmith', I love reading her critiques also. She describes this shot better than I ever could. Excellent work Cristal !

In my thoughts, with warm regards, Gail

Very nice work, Christal, and yes, the B&W the tones are rendered beautifully. I too like lighthouses, and this one looks clean and crisp indeed. I liked the broader view of this as well, but agree with you that it looks less 'lighthouse-ish'.   I wonder though if it would have been possible to include some more of the greenery on the left (for the viewer) perhaps..?  It might put the lighthouse structure slightly more off center in the overall composition... Anyway, it's just a thought, and I like the photo very much as it is  already:-)  Best regards to you, Marjolein -- PS:  I hope to be able to photograph a lighthouse as well, this coming summer in MA :-)

Christal,

What can I say! . . . I like them too!

And this one, . . . excellent lighting, composition (I like the trees all the way up the frame.) and splendid details, . . . so clean!

I would have thought it would have gotten much higher ratings. Well, I do think this photograph deserving. "They don't get much better than this!"

Regards,

Jim j.

Christal, this is strikingly beautiful!  Your tonal quality is masterful and the strength echoed as a representation of the purpose is well created!  Fine work!!

Very well done!  That is the light house at FT Casey! I have photographed that one too, about 28 years ago. I really miss the Pacific Northwest. It is a veritable photographer's paradise! I probably have well over 100 pages worth of negatives and transparencies from my days up there (at FT Lewis)

It's changed a bit over the years, hasn't it?  But it's still in excellent condition, which I was glad to see.  You're SO right about the Pacific NW.  We live in Indiana, but our favorite part of the country is the NW.  We plan to spend a lot of time out there when we retire.  Thanks for posting your image!

Thanks for telling me.....though I missed seeing it.  :-(   I'm nearly ready to start posting some stuff my trip.   Don't know where to start.....a person can do a lot of shooting in a 2-month period of time!  :-)
