I love the subject........battered old truck with errrm some modifications. Did you use selective colouring for this?  I think this subject would look brilliant as HDR, in fact I thought it was for a moment. I migh have been inclined to take a step back to get the full word "Garage" into the frame, but there could be a very good reason that you didn't.  In summary I like what you have done with it, a shot with great character!

Best Regards

Thank you all for commenting, I am so glad to hear from you.

Rosie, Welcome to PN!

Alf, I have always done my own version of HDR, by simply layering different adjusted exposures of a single exposure going back to the early versions of Photoshop and before I even know what it meant. I just purchased the Photomatix software. I have tried HDR with Photoshop’s CS4 version but they always looked horrible. It doesn’t have the tone mapping ability and that makes all the difference. I like the paintery look that I get with with Photomatix on certain images. But, it certainly doesn’t work with everything. I did take shots with the whole word “Garage” in it. I decided to leave it out because I thought it would be too much of a distraction pulling the eye away from the truck. Maybe I should have left it in, it could be more of a distraction with only half the word visible. It’s one of those things where I really appreciate other opinions.

I hope you are all enjoying Victoria Day. I am stuck at home with a wretched cold.

Best wishes,

Linda

What a fantastic old relic. And so nicely modified to meet the owner's needs.  Well composed and nicely processed. Cheers.
