William,

A very nice composition here.

I like the image.

I see that you are using a 300mm F4 lens at F/4. Your ISO 400 setting appears to be too much for the required lighting . Your exposure is 1/5000 second !

Now, for a 300mm lens , an exposure of 1/1250 second would be more than adequate. This would allow you to drop the ISO down to 100 for better imaging characteristics.  

Also, if you did want to adjust the f-stop a bit, you would still have room to lower your ISO and still have a sufficient shutter speed for this type of capture.

Beautiful image William. I love the look of contemplation.

You are used to shooting sports and know how fast you want the settings to avoid blur etc.  F4 gave you the nice, shallow dof.
