I was fortunate to have a mix of sun and clouds. I waited for the light to spill onto the spring meadow, but wanted the granite cliffs to be shaded, giving them a soft blueish hue against the lime green of the emerging grass and leaves. The Merced River in this area had left it's banks, so the overflow provided a perfect reflection. As I photographed this amazing waterfall, I could hear it thundering from over a mile away. I would have to say there is no better time to visit this park. The dogwoods were blooming, the waterfalls were pounding the granite, and the river and creeks were full and swift, yet the real crowds won't be coming until after Memorial Day. Thanks for any comments!

Greetings Mark - I hear the Sierras are expecting more sonw today - maybe some good ops.  the lighting here wonderful. Brooding skies with the lit up foliage is a winning combo.  I'm wondering if you needed any blending with this shot, as exposing for the bright greens might have had the exposure fall into place.  Great job on the blend if you did.  From a comp standpoint, a slight step to the right or left would move the waterfall on the far right out of the line of the tree.  Looks like it is being struck by lightning!  Very minor,  and probably just my personal taste.  I imagine you many comp. varieations from this spot.  Sweet shot.

Beautiful landscape capture - could be in Paradise from what I think Paradise would have looked like.

Thanks Harry and Johanna! That one slipped by me Harry. As it is, I would probably just clone it out because now that you mention it, it is a little distracting . Thanks!!

Ahh, hell leave it be!  It is pure serendipity; and sometimes you just gotta go with the flow.  I wouldn't change a thing here--not one thing.  Well done, well done, my friend!  Cheers!  Chris

a spectacular spring mountain photo. i never been at this place, but looking at the large number of photos from here, i imagine how hard is to create something special about it. and i think you succeeded this time. excellent photo.

This is just perfect and I'm sure this wasn't there when I was there. Your composition is just perfect as is your processing. You sure are making me feel bad about my trip. Just stellar, Mark.

Thanks Chris, Zsolt, Grant and Leo! Leo, I think this is near the swinging bridge, although the bridge I crossed is not the swinging type. My guess is this is spring overflow, which provided me with a perfect reflection. Getting something unique is sometimes just pure timing and luck!
