This one reminds me of Karsh's 1963 photo of Nikita Krushchev who was dressed in a very large fur coat.  http://cs.nga.gov.au/Detail.cfm?IRN=49383  I favour portraits in B&W as well as ones with just enough fill to put a sparkle of life in the subject's eyes.  This one qualifies on both counts.  The tight crop is very effective in keeping the viewer's eyes from wandering from the face.  This is one of your best portraits in my opinion.   Best, LM.
