tholte 16,733 Posted February 20, 2003 I really like this image. I like the slightly fuzzy look. The composition is quite lovely. It is a nice portrait that sticks out from the madding crowd. Link to comment
nickolay_lavrik 0 Posted February 24, 2003 A direct scan of my old print. A singlet lens (a pre-digital approach to acheive extreme softness) was used to make this shot. Please critique. Link to comment
linda_hudson 0 Posted February 24, 2003 I like the "fuzzy" look of your portrait. I'm wondering how you have pulled it off. Do you have secret tricks of the trade? Everytime I have a similar look it is labeled "camera shake." Link to comment
nickolay_lavrik 0 Posted February 25, 2003 Fuzziness of this image is entirely an optical feature of a single element lens. It does give a distinctive type of fuzziness that can be distinguished from "camera shake" and, perhaps, from majority of digital unsharp effects. I made my singlet lens after reading some book about this technique. I simply took apart an inexpensive pentax screw mount lense and removed all optical elements except one that had approximately 50 mm focal distance. Link to comment
