guillelobera 0 Posted May 7, 2011 This is the interior of Dominican Church of the Holy Spirit that wasbuilt towards the end of the 14th century on the site of the firstGothic church in Vilnius, and reconstructed several times during thecity's turbulent history. In 1501 it was given to the Dominicans who built a priory nearby. Itspresent appearance dates to the 18th century, when the interior wasrebuilt after serious fire damage. Strangely enough, but theDominican Church unlike other religious organization wasn't closedduring the Soviet times. Nowadays it serves Vilnius CatholicPolish-speaking community. The church is an architectural monument of high and late baroque inLithuania. Inside the church boasts splendor baroque decor. Luxuriousrococo ornamentations cover the walls like you could see in this shot. Link to comment
