Michael, this is a great out door find and possibly of very sensitive nature, i whats in my mind is correct.

You have made a great job here with the lighting and so with details obtained as they are of very fin nature, the models by all means are beautiful and the skin tone is so original.

Thank you my friend for sharing it and wishing you all of the best.

a good start but somethings to make it stronger, in my opinion:

a) move them to the right. The tree is distracting as it is coming out of the head of the woman sitting down and also the woman standing. If you used a different f/stop it would blur it out a bit but not enough so I think moving them off center (which would be stronger compositionally regardless) would be ideal.

b) natural light is great - I prefer to use natural light instead of portable strobes/fill flashes as much as possible. The one thing I have regardless is a reflector to bounce light. I think some more detail could be drawn out in the faces where shadows are forming (the woman sitting down) which may be caused by the standing woman over her.

Michael,

This is a very nice portrait. There are a few things that you might consider.

There really isn't much on the sides that adds to this portrait. A vertical format would work better.

If you move your camera position up a bit you wouldn't be looking up at them.

I don't know why this girls are looking at the camera (viewer). With this pose it seems that it would make more sense for them to be looking at each other.

I think their eyes could be a tad sharper. Be sure to focus carefully on their eyes and use a tripod whenever possible.

Their eyes are a little dark. They could use some catchlights, too. Catchlights would add some life to the portrait.

The position of the dark tree behind the girl with the dark hair make it difficult to separate her from the tree. The highlights in her hair do help, though.

If the tree was more out of focus the girls would stand out even better.

Because it is the only pink in the photograph, the tree in the lower left really draws attention away from your subject. The same could be said for the red shorts.

Avoid having the back (or palm) of the hand towards the camera. The edge (side) of the hand towards the camera is thinning, feminine and graceful. Fingers cascading rather than side by side is preferred.

Having a bra showing seems to be "in" right now, but it still looks tacky in a portrait.

I find the horizontal back of the bench to look very static and doesn't add to the image.

Don't crop at a joint (knees). Crop between joints.

The colors look a little muddy. I would add a little contrast, saturation, and exposure. Their skin color looks quite good, but I would warm it just a smidgen. Adding saturation may take care of it.

The shirt on the girl standing could be pulled down a bit in front to take some of the wrinkles out of it. She should stand a little straighter to improve her posture. See appears to be slumping her shoulders a bit.

The first thing that my eyes went to in this portrait was your name. You don't want anything to draw the viewer's attention away from your subject. It would be quite appropriate to place your name and the date the photograph was made, it you wish, on a mat surrounding your photograph.

NIce shot,

Mark
