JamieK 1 Posted May 2, 2011 I compared three lenses by taking similar pictures with equivalent focal lengths and apertures. The attached image detail facilitates comparison. The other picture has a similar name. Here are some technical details: Camera: Leica M6Crop Factor: 1.00Film: Kodak Tmax 400 filmISO: 400Lens: Leica 28/2.8, not asphericalShutter: unknown, I usually overexpose one and underexpose one.Aperture: f/2.8Background Blur Index (see my blur presentation): 10.0 Link to comment
3m 0 Posted July 20, 2011 I like this one out of the 3 you posted best for some reason... I like the sharpness of the focus and the way it evolves into a blur on the rocks beyond. I'm not that much of a technical person myself, but have often enjoyed reading your comments and impressions on various PN photos in the past. Very interesting try-outs and comparisons, Jamie..! ( I wish you would do these with Nikon lenses as well :-) Best regards to you, Marjolein Link to comment
JamieK 1 Posted July 21, 2011 I have owned two different examples of the Leica 28-mm, f/2.8, pre-aspherical lens made in Canada - both sold now as I try different things. Leica is careful about out-of-focus areas, and I think that's what you've noticed.Luckily, long ago I chose the Canon system. Most other lenses can be mounted on a Canon camera using a simple adaptor ring, but the reverse is often difficult and requires optical compromises. I've enjoyed using various lens systems on my Canon: C/Y (Zeiss), M42 (Zeiss), R (Leica), and OM (Olympus). Perhaps I'll give Nikon a try as you suggest. Thanks Marjolein. best, jamie Link to comment
JamieK 1 Posted April 14, 2013 I take groups of pictures of the same scene with different lenses to compare the lenses - matching images are in the same folder. Leave a comment if you're interested, and I'll send you a link to the presentation. Link to comment
