A candid moment between my non-smoking niece (with a cigarette in

hand), and my mom, who has been smoking for at least 70 years! Let me

This photo is a contrast with so many elements.  One young, old, non-smoker, smoker, and the younger girl could be the older women many years ago as you can see the likeness.  Great shot.

Thank you, Eric and Cynthia.  I love this shot, but for more personal reasons.  While my niece was hamming it up, I always felt that Aja had the most sincere intentions.  Take care you two.

When i saw your picture, the first thought was that your niece's pose was not natural.  Reading your explanation, i understand.

I love the light and tones in this picture, also the portrait is detached from the background which is good.

Thanks for your comments, Ben.  I really appreciate your input.  In this kind of shot I think you have to know the story too appreciate the interaction between my niece and my mom.  It was a heart-warming scene because my mother, who has smoked for over 60 years, was not supposed to be smoking near any entrances.  I think Aja did this as a sign of support for my mother, who had been married for over sixty years, and has been going through bouts with loneliness.  I could not have asked for a more perfect mom.  Her and my father did so much to bring up a family of eight.  Take care, Ben, and thanks again for your valuable insights.
