philip_press 0 Posted April 25, 2011 Magical look. Colors, sand bar leading out to the formations. Very nice. Link to comment

whydangle 0 Posted April 26, 2011 It's really odd that this one is not gobbled up with comments that identify it with total uniqueness. Marc, you have better images and I might throw in that the vignette at the top is distracting, but for goodness sake; let's admire the composition that strays from the tired or the usual!! You have redefined Mono Lake with a completely unique and captivating viewpoint. All of your recent work is exemplary, I just haven't slowed down enough to make a comment. This one should be setting a standard, but it appears that our classmates at PNet are blinded by the the tried and true, bread and butter, oversaturated and posterized images of the same o same o! Marc, you work too hard to get this kind of indifference. I guess perhaps this should be expected, much like the disintegration of popular music. If a song does not feature some monotone rap, autotune crap or an overused, four chord progression, it won't ever be recognized as worthy. So here is what I have to say; your image has a catchy melody without the usual hook. As for the vignette...it's like saying I really like the tune, just not the bridge. Crop the bridge and it's perfect in my eyes!! Link to comment
johnolsen 0 Posted April 26, 2011 Best capture of this area I have seen. There are millions of variations of what everyone takes - this is different. I like it. Link to comment
marcadamus 1 Posted April 26, 2011 Mark, thanks. My only intention at Mono was find something unique and develop it. My other shot is probably more creative than this, but I hadn't seen either before. We may not agree on vignettes all the time but at least we can agree on that terrible autotune! I turn it off immediately if that stuff gets into the music I'm listening to. Link to comment
hopsage 0 Posted April 26, 2011 Marc (and Mark, too) - It seems like the comment volume has gone down everywhere on PN lately. A shame. But I, too, noted this one with admiration. In fact, Marc, all of your recent posts here have been among the most creative and fresh exemplars of your work that I've seen. Link to comment
dom1 1 Posted April 26, 2011 John, maybe the lack of comments stem from the stunning photos that leave one speechless. How many ways can I praise Marc (or Mark's) photos? Certainly, with an eye for composition like this, one has to know they are talented. I appreciate the postings of truly exceptional work, and the sharing of technique. Link to comment
Larry_G1664882113 15 Posted April 27, 2011 Marc, The tufas at Mono Lake are amazing, and you have captured them in excellent light and color. Personally I think the sand bar leading out to them is a bit much. It splits the image for me and sacrifices seeing the tufas in detail with their excellent reflections. I realize that my comment could be interpreted as a different image creation. I'm not diminishing your excellent capture. Larry Link to comment
robert_g.1 0 Posted April 27, 2011 Looks like a castle on the beach , well seen , very pretty colors ... Link to comment
marcadamus 1 Posted April 27, 2011 Larry, absolutely. I have many images that show off the Tufa in more detail, so just branching out a bit here. Lonely simplicity on display in this one. Link to comment
jhl 0 Posted April 27, 2011 This is STUNNING !I am not a professional photographer and have never been for photography lessons at all. I have read all the comments from all the other members as well as your replies to them. - My comment for what it's worth is: The sandbank here in front of the capture led me all along the water towards the Sand Castles and back again as well as the reflections of the castles and the sky with it's pink and blue colours. A place I would like to visit one day and see for myself. I started with saying this is stunning and I meant it, just a pity I could not view it in Larger even though I did try. Where is this beautiful place and in which Country ?Thank you for sharing and Congratulations on what you achieved here.Regards from South Africa Link to comment
hh253 0 Posted April 27, 2011 Great composition and colours. I think the bridge or sand bank makes the difference from other postcard photos. Heinz Link to comment
GailAnthonyHarmer 5 Posted April 28, 2011 I find this image most lovely, not only in it's color, reflections, excelllent editing, but it DRAWS me into it's beauty. The sunset 'kissing' the 'Sand Castles' is lovely as well. Work that is so admirable, I know I would try my hardest to strive to be this good. My Kindest Regards, Gail Link to comment
