Juggling

carl smith

One of a series of experiments I did using my 550EX in strobe mode. I think this one came out to be one of the best but I'm still working on the others. By no means groundbreaking, but it was fun.

Taken at a friends college, I was experimenting with the strobe

feature on my flash. I actually like how this came out, and am

curious about other people's opinions.

Not really a serious photo, no real attachment but I am curious about

what you guys think of it. TIA.

I like the photo. There's a real curious expression on the guy's face which communicates his concentration, then there's the effects on the juggling balls! Parts of the shirt and face look a little strange but the juggling balls look great.

The funny look on his shirt was a screwup by me when working the file. I just fixed it. The brightness of his face is most likey just a side affect of the strobe hitting a stationary object. His shirt was a lot darker so it wasn't a problem. Although the buttons do stand out.

Thanks so far!

I agree with Naom about the hand. Maybe a bit too much head room, but I can see that you didn't want a square so... Nice experiment, and I bet it was fun to do! The top ball almost looks like a banana! ;)

I like how you've captured the motion. Pity his face is blurred; it would be perfect if that were the only stationary part of the photo. As is, it's damn good.

I wish I could juggle. One of my sadistic friends, knowing my state of coordination, gave me a set of juggling balls for Christmas. Every time I try to juggle, I feel the urge to smack him upside the head.

plenty of potential here, I have the same kit as you but stick to static shots. Nearly right it seems to me, but what do I know, the main thing is you will have stacks of fun perfecting your technique. Did you tripod mount? If so the composition could be tighter with less space above the head.
