Early morning - Grand Canyon

It was a cold, cold early morning wait on the rim of the Grand Canyon, waiting for the sun to come up. I wanted the shadow definition to increase the majesty of the spectacle. Shot this in 2004 with my old Olympus p&s. Please enlarge.

Nice panorama. 2 minor points. the right corner is too dark, leaving almost nothing visible (at least on my terminal) [ii] perhaps the blue portion at top was not necessary. the eye essentially stops at the before that. Nice colors and light. compliments -koushik

The dark right-hand corner was actually a trade-off between getting the landscape colouring in the early morning light, or waiting for the sun to get higher, losing the shadow and possibly gaining the heat haze that normally exists later in the day. I did consider trying to lighten the image, but there was little definition in the dark shadow - so I left it as is.

I did crop out a little of the sky, but felt that the addition of a small skyline would emphasise the depth of the canyon as well as the part they call the "rim".

So the image here is full frame, with just a tiny crop to the skyline.
