Thanks guys!  The picture was taken in winter of 2010...but sheer bordom in April of 2011 brought about this version.  My wife loves birds (as evidenced by the couple of hundred bird houses and feeders around our property...this one in our front yard. (perhaps a bit of an exaggeration...there's probably only 199 or so... ;)   Glad you liked the pic!   -  Regards, John 

The cardinal is our state bird (Indiana).  I love watching vivid red cardinals in our back yard when it snows.  Unfortunately, we're not set up well to photograph them here.   Sounds like you are!  This one is unique and sweet.  And I love the technique you applied to this as well.  I also like the shot with the cardinal alone.  Nice work, John.  You have some interesting new stuff!

Just finding your comment, Cristal!  Thank you, and glad you like the photo.  I don't know if I ever knew you were from Indiana.  I like your state.  I've driven through a few times on the way to Chicago and found the people to be laid back, warm, and friendly...much like folks here in Tennessee, minus the Southern twang!   I have two aunts on my mother's side of the family that live in Evansville, and an aunt on my father's side that lives in Lynn.  My wife has never been to Chicago, so I'm hoping we'll be driving through Indiana on the way there sometime this summer.  Always good to hear from you!
