As you know it's not the material you use but how you use the material. The composition is more than interesting. The colour of the flowers is distorted by the lamp. they should be more reddish or even go to pink. Any way, nice one!

This is a very difficult lighting situation for you camera.

Because their is too much contrast.

Your camera cant's handle that.

That is why you see blowing out high and shadow.

You can have less blowing out by shooting in raw and try too get

out more detail in ACR.

Or you can make more shots with different times (hdr)

and use photoshop too stich them together. You get much more contrast this way.

The small red colorcast you can fix in ACR (WB).

Perhaps average light metering is better then spot.

But the picture has a nice composition.
