Please view large. Nelson is a picturesque artistic town nestled in the

West Kootenays in British Columbia. Residents, many who have

moved from Vancouver, consider Nelson to be paradise. As always, I

value and appreciate your comments. Thanks. Larry

I'm familiar with the NW coast (Neah Bay, LaPush), and this really captures the feel of the place.  The mountains rising out of the fog and up into the low clouds on a relatively dark day is one of the essences of the coast.  Sailboats anchored in quiet water add even more.  The picturesque bridge set against the white fog is icing on the cake.  It's just a very nice photo of this part of the PNW.

Thanks, Stephen.

I have read and agreed with many of your critiques.  I value your positive appraisal of this image.  It is quite reinforcing.  By the way, this is not the Pacific coast, rather the interior of British Columbia in the West Kootenays.  I am sure the characteristics you attribute to the PNW hold true here as well.  Again, many thanks.

Larry, I think it was the breakwater boulders in the lower right that had me thinking "marine water."  But then, that would be about the calmest marine water I've ever seen, even inside a bay!

I was in Sekiu  and Neah Bay, WA last September. This lighting is so  "PNW" (Pacific Northwest). I think it is the softness and somberness of high latitude lighting that you have captured. Excellent job of mood.  The way the layers of fog break up the dark mountains and are unify the photo by transitioning the neutral tones of the water right through to the sky above the mountains. Highlighting of the subtle red tones of the bridge is fantastic. Well seen and well done.

Of the three images I like this one the best, the rocks add a sense of depth to your fine image. There is a feeling of stillness & quietness which I find very pleasing,it is a visual pleasure viewing your image. The icing on the cake is the snow clad montain between the layers of cloud, it adds just a touch of brightness to the scene. Well done.Sorry now we did not visit this area of B.C. during our trips to the west. Best Regards-Ross

Thanks for your comment, Ross.  You have helped me realize this is the best of my Kootenay  images.  The interior of B.C. is a marvel for nature and more laid back life.
