matthijs 0 Posted May 4, 2011 Almost like a character from a film! Well seen and well shot. Pity about the hard shadows but unavoidable. Matthijs. Link to comment
olafdevries 0 Posted May 4, 2011 the "medium" shadows were one of the first reasons in shooting the profile. By the darker accents the lighted cigar got more prominent. By the shadows the white hair on it's chest got visible in a characteristic way. etc. etc. This is, was the reallity. Denying the force or roles shadows can have, a good cartoonist immediately would understand that, does show a conditioned way of thinking. Please, for your own sake, try to observe the working of light in your own way and by that: get and stay alive..! Da's uit m'n hart, kerel..! :) Link to comment
matthijs 0 Posted May 4, 2011 Hmmm… maybe I got too distracted by the shadows around the eyes to see the depth that the light gives to other parts of the whole. I always try to remark upon what I like best and what I like least about a picture. This in order to help the photographer that asks for comments. My comments should be viewed as just that. My reaction to what's shown. Take note of the helpful words and disregard the rest. Met groet, Matthijs. Link to comment
olafdevries 0 Posted May 5, 2011 I should have considered your "being alive" in a more decent way..! Yes, do forgive me. It's the passion for the shooting and the personal approach we all should have..! Haha, maybe the only restriction..?! Not getting overwhelmed by light and colors like van Gogh sometimes did. He even wasn't assured.. :) Warm (today) regards, Olaf. Link to comment
