I'm so glad I saw this thumbnail. I don't believe I've seen your Portfolio before and there are so many great compositions within.  I shall enjoy visiting often in the near future.

This shot is 'magical' to me at least.  The wonderful imagination of children as they discover the wonders of nature that we take so often for granted. Lovely lighting, detail, chosen 'focus area', and your subject is a delight to view. This shot takes me back to when my children first discoverd the many 'wonders' of the beach and the ebb and flow of the water.  Thankyou for sharing, and I will definitely visit more often.  My kindest regards, Gail

this one expresses perfectly the curiosity, carefulness, unhandiness and carefreeness of childhood. Great capture! To my favorites. Regards, Burak

What a marvelous capture.  Your eye and quickness have produced a timeless image of the essence of childhood and their wonderous world.  To me, a work of art.

Great picture, wonderful atmosphere. I do not think you could pick a better time to press the shutter release.

Wonderful candid portrait...very strong composition and the perspective is just great.  I really like how the soft natural light allows you to pick up the reflections and highlights in the sand and water...my favorite thing though about this image is the young lady's intent gaze as the water flows in toward her.  Well done.

A picture truly of what the childhood is. It looks like the mighty sea wave has kneeled down to the level of the child for a play.

I love the posture of the girl and her hand gestures playing with the incoming wave--it tells a nice story and sets in motion, for me at least, nostalgic childhood memories. I also very much like the depth-of-field control in the image--the girl is set inside that sharply focused slice. In a perfect world, I might consider cropping in a bit tighter if the pixels are available, but not so much as to lose the context of the wave ripple on either side of the girl. I also am a bit concerned and distracted by the weird stuff in the upper left corner. Since color doesn't seem to be a huge compositional element here, how about a black and white conversion? That might also fix what I see as a very slight white balance issue (or is it my monitor?) Overall, though, this is a great capture of a really unique, intimate moment of a little girl playing with both the wave and her imagination.

I agree that the upper-left stuff breaks the spell of this otherwise delightful image. She's completely engaged in what she's doing/imaging/testing, and the bubble-like nature of the image (shallow DoF, a bit of vignette) helps to further insulate her from outside distractions. That's why the the upper-left stuff is more disruptive than it might otherwise be. At least at the resolution we're seeing here, there should be some room to deal with that.

And... were my knees ever able to do that? Youth, wasted on the young, etc!
