Guest Guest Posted April 12, 2011 I always think there is a bit of magic in blac and white work and love the tones it gives to show the image in an unobstructred aspect void of colour which can distract from the compostion at times. Of course this is a personal opinion. Love the expression but based on the angle if you allow me to provide just my humble comment the form of the hip and trun of the body somehow distorts the figure in a way that is less attractive... Do you see what I am getting at it just comes accorss strange of out of norm... That was the first thing I picked up on if I mental corp about that it becomes a pleasing image . I trust my small comment is not taken out of context your work is impeckable and the modle is fantastic I recall the colour post standing in the window opening fantastic this was just a simple observation... Again thanks for allowing open discussion John as you have always been professional in your comments with me... Cheers. MJ Link to comment
JPPhoto1664880217 2 Posted April 12, 2011 Beautiful! The light, the setting, and the expression all work together to enhance the image. The asymetry in her torso gives the image a slight a surrealistic look that I find pleasing. One question, how does she look in color? I would expect her lips to "jump out" of the image if they are as red as they appear to be. Jim Phelps Link to comment
John Peri 1,007 Posted April 12, 2011 MJOregon: Many thanks for your well thought out comment. As you well know, the reason why I post my work essentially is to receive feedback, and the more critical it is the more useful to me. I appreciate that it is not always easy to find something to say, I myself am often at loss for words when I visit other people's pages, what having struck me often being just the strong impact of the shot.To return to this image, I fully understand what you say but, admittedly it is also partly the reason why I posted it. I have others in the series where the model looks wonderfully glamorous, but the configuration of her athletic body here is somewhat more original than the others (not my photo, the model) with almost feline or snake like qualities, which renders it more interesting to me. Ultimately, the viewer must judge of course, and I fully accept that many may not like the photo at all. I have discovered with time that in glamour and artistic nude work, there are in fact three categories of critics. The author, the viewer and the model, and all three may differ substantially in their view, the most critical of all being the model. Thank you so much for your very objective review. John Peri 1,007 Posted April 12, 2011 Jim, haha, I thought you would say that .. the colour version is similar to others I have posted in this series, she probably comes to life more, but you know what I penchant I have for black and white .. : -) Link to comment
gsphotoguy 2 Posted April 13, 2011 I love the way her pose, your viewpoint and the lighting distort her form. This is a beautiful image with so many elements that came together well. Her skin against the rough stone and the addition of the necklace and scarf work nicely.I know we have discussed cut-off limbs before and they normally don't bother me at all. Here her arms seem off without visible hands. It does add another level of tension so maybe that works too. Link to comment
tore 0 Posted April 13, 2011 I love this one, she has a face of a movie star (the MUA or the model make a great job here too) I like the pose and the lines it creates, but the best part is how the light creates a start point in her face and den lead the eye down in the image.Great work.Best regards Tore Link to comment

svetlana_korolyova 26 Posted April 14, 2011 Excellent contrast between the gentle lines of the body and lines of the building! Link to comment
rds 0 Posted April 14, 2011 I like the setting of the photo. The model has a wonderful appearance from the breast up. How ever her lower extremities looks like she's anorexic which takes away from the aesthetic appeal of the picture in my nonprofessional opinion. Link to comment
John Peri 1,007 Posted April 15, 2011 Robert Southard, I appreciate you not liking the photo and saying why, thank you, but the vocabulary is offensive and misplaced. That said, the model has a perfect BMI (Body Mass Index), about as perfect as it gets. I never ceased to be surprised by people that express no sensitivity towards the feelings of the persons in these works. Link to comment
