Her pose does not transport sadness to me, but rather dreaminess. It's a wonderful picture, with the filtered light shining in from the top. Very, very nice.

Anto,

She is a very beautiful girl. You have focused well on her eyes. The lighting is excellent. She has very good catchlights. Her make-up looks very nice. Even though the background is not particularly out of focus, it is nicely neutral and quite dark -- not at all distracting. She is well separated from it.

I have to agree with Monika. She seems to be evoking more of a feeling of dreaminess or even contemplation rather than sadness. I really like this portrait.

She is not looking at the camera (viewer) or where her head is pointing. She is looking up towards where the light is coming from. It bothers me a bit that we (as viewer's) don't know why. There is nothing in the picture to lead us to believe this has any religious overtones. A different title could change that.

I like the pose very much, but I do wish the top of her left foot was not pointing towards the camera. It makes it appear rather large and "flipperish." If the side of her foot was towards the camera it would appear slimmer, more feminine, graceful and elegant. Notice how nice her hands look viewed from the side.

The moss covered rock she is lying on is too light. If it was darker (closer to the other rocks) it wouldn't draw attention away from her face. The same is true of the skirt part of her dress. The bright colors and bold patterns are distracting. Plain clothing would work much better.

I am assuming she is wearing a jacket over a dress. Her dress applears to be a peasant style -- quite simple. Her jacket appears to be more modern looking. They just don't seem to go together very well.

I don't know whether it is the location, her outfit or the proximity to her face, but her watch bothers me. It seems out of place. From her waist up the watch should go with her very well, but for some reason my eyes are pulled away from her face to the watch. Maybe it is just me?

You have an overall green tint to your photograph. You should correct this to make her skin tone more normal.

I cropped it just a tad. My crop makes it feel a smidgen more compositionally balanced -- to me.

Nice shot,

Mark
