djackson99 0 Posted April 9, 2011 The color blending in the green tones is wonderful. The point of light is perfectly placed. Good job of seeing on this image. Link to comment
davidmccracken 2 Posted April 9, 2011 I am a fan of minimalistic landscapes... well... certainly ones like this. The longer you look at this, the better it gets. Link to comment

matussik 0 Posted April 10, 2011 I like the coldness of this minimalistic composition with its grey dominant color tones. I like how the brighter area immediately attracts the viewers eye to the poles. Kind regards, Jan Link to comment
Larry_G1664882113 15 Posted April 10, 2011 Volker, My notes say this is a wonderful artistic image. Great mood created by soft blended colors and smooth texture. You take the posts, which some might interpret as a distraction and create a most interesting composition and seascape with them. My only question is whether you need to reduce the noise a bit. This will be a judgment call for you, as noise reduction also sacrifices some clarity. I took a shot at running my Imagenomic noiseware program on the image. I don't know how or if you'll see a difference or if you will like it. Congratulations on this image. Larry Link to comment
vbirke 0 Posted April 11, 2011 Many thanks for your time and posting comments - they are very helpful and encouraging as well! Larry: special thanks for your analysis and effort! Noise is always an issue, and let me say, I (very often) hate noise and try to track it down and get rid of it as much and fast as I can... ;-) ! Hence, my usual workflow (as here) comprises (after several varying previous steps) - as an antepenultimate step - a noise reduction by applying Noise Ninja (as plugin to PS CS2). I conduct that even regarding images coming out of the 5D (Mark I) which seem to show very low or virtually no noise. I like Noise Ninja a lot because it is very effective IMO. Afterwards, I usually apply (as here) Unsharp Masking (to the lab canal only) which returns some noise of course (before I produce a final Web resolution of the image).Maybe, it was too much, but here, at my screen (it's an EIZO CG19 calibrated by XRITE), I cannot see any significant noise. However, your version is free of noise here on my screen, too.Maybe the resolution PN provides is sometimes not the ideal one, but it depends from image to image and screen to screen IMO.Sometimes when I apply Render / Lightning Effects (as here) ugly color gradients / fringes appear (then, I revise the workflow), but I could / can not notice them here. Have not known "Imagenomic" so far, will check it. Link to comment
