It's a macro shot of my iphone. I would love to hear constructive C&C on

how I could improve this image. My preference would have been to have

more of the image to the left to make the aspect ratio a little more in lenght

but the lighting and the aperture I felt was the best of a series and there

was the unwanted iphone corner in the shot so this was the resulting crop.

Thanks for you time.

Hi Peter. I think this is a really GREAT abstract as it is. The two diagonals delimiting three areas of grey-shades, and the perfectlyplaced ellipse with beautiful reflection. And the border fits so well ... I'll give you 7, for there is nothing I would change. Best rgeards, Alex

As one of my most promising online students, I want to offer you my congratulations.  I see you incorporated at least four principles here:  Diagonals, Key, Secondary Subject, and Symmetry.

Excellent choice of matte treatment as well.

I almost feel a little guilty I can't offer you any criticism at all here.  I wouldn't change a thing.  It's harmony springs from its simplicity.

You have a fine art image here worthy to hang in any gallery.  I would love seeing at least a 24 inch gallery-wrapped giclee of this.

Thanks everyone for the extremely encouraging comments! It inspires me to keep on diligently working at it. I've learned so much from all of you and PN and here is one of the results. It wasn't too long ago I only dreamed of taking shots like this. I greatly appreciate all of your comments and participation :)

Sincerely,

Peter

I'm going to agree - this is genuinely abstract and a strong composition. Your control of the light makes it all work: I love how the light to dark gradient going to the top lines up with and is offset by the dark to light transition in the concave area. Wish I'd thought of it!

Kombizz, Maurizio and Timothy, Thanks for the very encouraging comments, much appreciated. Kombizz, when I first I saw this image it reminded me immediately of a UFO too.

Sincerely,

Peter

Peter, there is little to add to the discussion, it is very original, well previsualised. Close to perfection, in my opinion. To offer a suggestion for improvement, I would clone the two small specks I circled, to preserve purity of the gradients. Best wishes. Peter
