The Memorial to the martyrs of religion and the homeland is a monument

made of stone and bronze, in its architectural design by Ricardo

Magdalena and sculptural work by Agustín Querol. The memorial

is dedicated to representing the principal martyrs of the city, both

alluding to the countless martyrs of city whose tradition dates back

to the fourth century, and those who stood to defend the city in the

Siege of Saragossa (1808-09).
