I like it - great light on her face and hair, but not too bright. I also like the vertical crop.

The lighting, color and sharpness are very good.

Your version is better.

Because there is more balance.

You have done an amazing job with accentuating the lines of her face without distorting other details. I believe that your uncropped image helps to define the size of this lady. Fantastic picture.  I like the uncropped version, it gives room for the old lady to look into the picture, instead of out the picture. 

The light behind the face is great it creates a lighter ring around the face.
