These are green leaves of the water hyacinth plant. It belongs to the

genus Eichhornia. Water hyacinth are a free-floating perennial aquatic

plant native to tropical and sub-tropical countries, the Philippines

included where this image was taken. They have broad, thick, glossy,

ovate leaves and may rise above the surface of the water as much as

one meter.

Photo taken with Leica R Elmarit 28mm on a D300 Nikon 1/80 sec ISO

200 @ f8. Thank you for your time and your comments are highly

appreciated. Please "click" image for larger view.

Very sharp and good light. Some people think these are water lilies. These water hyacinths are concentrated in " Laguna de Bay". Thanks for sharing.

Hi Nelson, thank you for your comment and thanks for mentioning about the light. I must say I was lucky to have above me when I took this photo on location, an even light source from an overcast sky. Best regards!

Really great colors and detail. Love the compostion as well. Especially like the leaf in the upper right which is illuminated slightly more than the others.

Very well done, Lester...

This is such a beautiful photo. Will you share what you did in Photoshop and how the image was shot?

Thank you for your comment and appreciation for this image. For this photo, hardly any Photoshop was done except a little saturation and sharpness. The camera used was a Nikon D300 and mounted a Leica Elmarit R 28mm 2.8 with the following details 1/80 sec. ISO200 at f8. These water lilies were lying flat on the ground and the lighting was from an overcast sky early in the morning. The camera was mounted on a tripod and the film plane parallel to the ground. No filters used here. Attached is a photo of the place which is a lake in the Philippines. Thank you.
