dom1 1 Posted March 27, 2011 I don't know if I was more amazed by the song, or by the thorny environment. Link to comment
ruudalbers 0 Posted March 28, 2011 A beautiful shot with very nice colours and details, Dominick! Link to comment
randallfarhy 0 Posted March 28, 2011 Dominick, nicely rendered shot! Tonal quality and color balance make it easy to overlook that the bird is nearly entirely sidelit. Those thorns would be quite discouraging for any bird of prey considering an assault. Well done!Regards, Randall Link to comment
craigpjenkinsphotography 0 Posted March 28, 2011 Head tilted back and beak open - I can almost hear the song. Thanks for sharing. Link to comment
jafennell 0 Posted March 29, 2011 Nice that you caught the beak open in song and that the thorns add edginess to what could have been a fairly common photo of a bird. Makes me wonder if the nest is nearby and protected by thorns too. Link to comment
dom1 1 Posted March 30, 2011 Thanks for commenting. It occurred to me too that the very happy song was a result of feeling very safe and secure in the mesquite thorns. This shot was taken in a wildlife sanctuary where I observed countless cat traps. There are groups here that capture feral cats, neuter them, and turn them loose. All I have to say is, what about the birds? Cats will hunt for sport. It's hard to imaging a Maui without the constant chattering of birds. Aloha all. Link to comment
llgarcia 1 Posted March 31, 2011 Dominick, I could hear the song of this seed-eating songbird coming from its open mouth that you captured so beautifully. The composition is likewise exceptional as if the bird is singing for freedom from the surrounding thorns. Congratulations and thanks for commenting on my image. Regards!Lester Link to comment
