Large is indeed better. But small was already great.

A perfect example of why it's silly never to use a long lens for a landscape picture.

A scene like this looks great when compressed by a long lens. (would you care to tell what you used?)

I don't think there's lots of room for improvement but you might want to try a "widescreen" version by cropping off the bottom 20% (alas losing the hey bales) for greater impact.

Wonderful light and great composition (the road dividing in bright and dark parts). The shepherd approaching with his herd from the distance completes the photo (though - after a longer gaze - I think you could be even more carefully in postprocessing them, i.e. a little less brightness would bring them out well enough still - the road guides my eyes toward him).

This is a good a example of a photo where viewing larger really is worthwhile.

Fantastic image.  The light is obviously superb, as is the fact that the eye is led to the shepherd by both the road and the bright mist coming in from the right.  A magical scene, really.  The photo invites you to linger and wish you could be transported to this place (at least it does for me!).
