"an alusion to henri cartier?" I know the the image. This was not intended to be so.  I'm trying to record the Naklaot neighborhood -good or bad photos. I did not see the biker coming. He just flew into the viewfinder from out of no where just as I clicked.  I said "fuck" and moved on. Turns out he improved the shot.

I read John's comment on the link you provided and on another. Don't know why he is doing  that. Not typical of John.  You have many photos to be satisfied with.

How to shoot in difficult light. I avoid difficult light. I don't shoot in direct sunlight, even when it is in the background (there are exceptions).

I shoot RAW not JPG or Tif -It can  make a difference  in contrast range. This is all the advice I have on that.

Early on I did not know this stuff. I read some books on zone photography and has a great influence on what I try now to do. I usually care more about tonal range than subject and often could care less about the subject matter. I love gray scale tones that's all.

I only once showed John what I would have done with his photo (has to do with skin tones which are very difficult in BW) See http://photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=10189470 my first and second comments with attached images.

I'm posting some pretty bad photos recently.

very much.

the reason John did that is I have explicitly requested it via internal message. also, I knew it will be hard critique technical wise. maybe I believed he will share with me the impression of tension on that one. I will study that photo in url provided. I saw somewhere else you provided nice scale of white to black, cant remember why.

btw. good start of this village serie, I like the boy returning from home, alhtough I would have compose it differently.

Charming. It shows Nachalot to advantage. I love the blur of the rider and the tones and details of the street. Just really good

I cannot blame the first person who commented and alluded to Cartier-Bresson. The photo flashed in front of my eyes as well the moment I saw this.

Just goes on to show what high regard we have for this shot.

I'm sure that photo was least in your mind when you shot this. As I see it, this photo is about life, about movement. And I love your timing here; just perfect enough to ensure that the cycle in the background is not obstructed and remains a very important part of the composition. Regards.
