I like the setting & the idea very much but am surprised that you make the space given to equals so unequal.  I suggest either a vertical or horizontal format (the leaves are interesting) but place their noses either side of a central line.  The image I upload is not as good as a reshoot that would be respaced but would be acceptable to most couples.
