...rather than a "critique" or comment. You shot this "as it was", with all the other people around, choosing not to blur out the background. This could be interpreted dually; many would regard this as distraction while some would say the background adds to the overall atmosphere. What's your take on this? Thanks.

The photo was not "set up". Simply; "May I?" Nod "Yes you may." It is a "snapshot",taken quickly, kind of photo.  The background was not in my mind. In retrospect I kind of like the background as being interesting now that I look at it -and it puts them in context; but it is a matter of taste. Thank you for asking.

P.S. Had I taken this two days later most everyone in background would have been in costume. Obama and Gadaffi costumes are popular this year.

I love this image, these girls look like they are having fun, the multi coloured hair is great, I would love to see a shot when as you say all of the people are in costume.
