I find this to be a very tranquil scene, probably due to the curving shore (almost looks like a path), soft waves, quiet clouds, and slightly shadowed foreground.  It's also a perfect example of why "rules" (in this case the 50:50 split) are just guidelines and that deviations are often striking.  Very nicely done.
