I see some portraits that have been textured  to the point that they look like copper toolings and not real  people.  It's so nice to see a human face.  Very good detail, especially in his beard.  There's a little graininess on his cheeks.

I really like this tight crop.  You have included enough of his beard and head dress to emphasis his face. The little gap showing a space behind him works well.
