Gorgeous photograph.

One tip - I feel like the AC unit (top left) is distracting from the boy and man in distance.

A good crop will fix it just right.  Just my opinion :)

Beautiful.  I like the tones. I like the mood two of both of them.  I don't really agree about the air conditioner --I think cropping it is aesthetically the way to go, but this type of neighborhood is kind of sloppy like that.  More documentary of street.  Why mess with that?

A moment well caught, this street shot and this tirred boy after a school day makes this interesting, best regards.

Great image that attracts creative ideas. I myself forget the power of croping. Resently I met an experience German photographer that told me he crops almost all his images.  I love this boy with the man in the dark!  Warm regards.

Hi Meir -- A lovely moment you captured here; I really sense the little boy's fatigue after his school day, = in his posture and in the way he so nonchalantly carries his back pack home... The tonal range is very well done, imo.  I don't know about cropping out the conditioner unit....  Personally feel that it is part of the surroundings here -- and more 'documentary of street', as Donna put it.  (To make things more complicated: How about cropping it out partially, to the top of the black metal beam on the right...?)  Anyway, that's just another thought (as I slightly scrolled up the photo on my screen).   I already like the photo as is. Best regards to you, Marjolein

Here is the more complete scene -taken from a position a little further back and just before the boy walked into the picture. The balcony looks rather "propped up". I worry it will someday fall on someone.

i really like the pov here, the low shot... the dangling school bag, his lowered head, thick jacket open and hanging loose from his shoulders... the unmoving bearded man in the shadows, as if he were waiting for the boy to enter before he resumed his journey... a great life photograph, Meir, with your usual high-calibre toning... i like the balcony overhanging the boy's path, a crop suggestion is uploaded (5:4)

Marjolein crop meaning that she recommended cropping just about the steel beam as is in your suggestion. As for cropping the Arch on the left -she did not say.

I like both yours, and  Rajat's crop, Meir. They both represent what I had in mind. (& possibly with the arched doorway on the L... = a matter of taste in composition, imo  ;-)

I could not make up my mind. Arch or no arch. Seemed like whichever I look on last.  I did not know at that time which you intended. Thanks again for visit and input.

Me too -- as it seems to be another possible direction the boy is walking to :-)

Meir: Nice shot.  I like the low angle.  You got down to the boy's height which gives the camera a child's viewpoint.  The white sheet pulls my eye away from the main subject.  I tried cropping it out but there are different solutions.  While cropping, I gave the boy more room in front of him to indicate he is going somewhere rather than putting him in the middle. Of course I lost the square format.  That could be because I don't shoot square but in rectangular formats so my eye tends to see that way.  I can't figure out if I like the man in the picture or not.  On the one hand he adds mysteriousness to the picture.  On the other hand he somewhat distracts from the boy's intense objective of getting home.  My very best,  Alan.
