Oh, I'm so glad you got this shot Linda, nothing more delightful than to see these beautiful birds take to flight. Great white balance and light in this shot, the mountains look lovely!!!! congrats, Gail

It looks like an Air Force exercise.  I like how you left plenty of sky for them to soar.  The icy color is perfect, very staid.

Great shot. The middle portion is a tad dark as it shows on my monitor but still a fine shot. All the best as we deal with 18 inches of fresh snow in my area.

Stunning image. No easy feat getting a group action/environment shot to work so well. A lot of things have to come together, and you captured it splendidly. My only critiicism echoes that of another poster-the lead bird could be a tad lighter to draw the eye further into the frame (perhaps the head of the bird on the left as well). I like the darker center, it provides a natural break point and adds dramatic impact. Excellent work.

I've thought about this photo -- always clicked off before commenting -- but now I've got some time.  The flight line up and various forms of take off with the one spectator --- you've caught personality and some spirit of community and adventure that exudes emotion in this photo.   The colors and tones of mountain and sky are simply exquisite. I love the composition (though I would be tempted to shave off just a touch from the bottom, so the feet of the last one feel closer), and I agree (just a smidgeon) with the comment that it may be too dark among the trees and perhaps their shadows, but I'm not sure.

Anyway, it's memorable and delightful.  I should be framed and hung on the wall.

Thanks everyone!

Gail, it’s good to hear from you, I am glad you like it.

Jeff, these are family groups, as far as I can tell. They do everything together.

Okan, Thank you.

Tony, we have had a unusually long winter here too. Not much snow, just a lot of brown and grey. It makes long for some colour.

Jim, Thank you.

Randall, I think that is good advice. I will try making them lighter. Thank you.

Joan, thank for stopping by.

Patsy, thanks.

Best wishes.

Very nice..........I like Jeff's comment about the Air Force. I can imagine a loud siren blaring and these guys scrambling to get in the air........fast!!

It is sort of like a stop action various phases of stand to lift off... I think your control of the depth of field is remarkable and that the overall tone of the image is fantastic... Cheers MJ
