GailAnthonyHarmer 5 Posted March 7, 2011 This brilliant water flower may be alone, but 'she' appears to be in 'good company. Lovely processing Anabela, the water on the leaves and in the foregound is an added bonus. A fine piece of Art work. Kind regards, GAil Link to comment
sumon_mukherjee 0 Posted March 7, 2011 An artistic image. A beautifully composed shot with very good details and marvelous reflections. The color tonality is also appreciable. Should we crop a bit from the top to enhance the impact of the reflections? Best regards. Link to comment

Guest Guest Posted March 9, 2011 Breaking some rules of photography here aren't you. The old rule of third right out of the window kicking the center of attention in the center. Actually it works raterh well the water and the slik aspects of the water make the breaking of the rules work. The effect in post process has an added benefit and add interest to the image. I am a bit taken a back as the lower scores that you are getting I would have to say when we combined the interest and the artistic rate into a single number you do tend to get the purist who think works should be a 3... I think that rates of that level must be accompanied with a detailed explaination of why the rate was at that level. I for one usually investigate each person who rates my work good or bad as it is always nice to see the work of the person who has rated you in the first place and to judge the compentency of the rater with regards to quality of their work. Most of the time I find that lower rates are a matter of individual preference and that is understandable. I think if you rate something low or high accompany that with a solid comment make the site much more productive and fulfilling for all who are members... Again this shot breaks some rules but it still captures some interest at least for me... Keep shooting... MJ Link to comment

Thank you very much for your helpful comment. MJ, thank you very much for your valuable insight into the concepts of photography. Fully agree with your observation toward the enthusiastics 3/2 raters...Let us hope they read it...:) Again thanks so much for your strong support. Link to comment

elportebonheur 0 Posted March 10, 2011 Although it's a quite common motif the final result is good and attractive presented. Ignore your low raters and remember that there is no right or wrong in photography. Sometimes technical errors ( don't worry here are none) can be wrong in theory, but artistic considerations are personally never wrong. Keep posting Anabela! Link to comment
alfbailey 1 Posted March 10, 2011 I echo El's sentiments in thier entirety. Everything is subjective, there are rules of photography, but I prefer to think of them as guidelines, theres nothing hard and fast and artistic interpretation can be an equal factor in presentation. Here I find the reflected silvery light and foreground shapes and textures more pleasing to view than the central flower in fact I'd go as far to say that they would work as well alone. As for ratings......I opted out of that game long ago, when I realised higher ratings wouldn't make me a better photographer, whereas honest feedback might just help. I hope this has.Best RegardsAlf Link to comment

llgarcia 1 Posted March 13, 2011 It's not only the lone flower that makes this image but the leaves of the water lotus taking a metallic color is outstanding. Beautiful rendition and presentation, Anabela.Regards and thanks for your comment to my image. - Lester Link to comment
