First of all I want to say I really enjoy the image and the detail of the bird it is so vibrant and interesting. I would only say that the back gound just doesn't do it justice at all as such a great shot. If I could I would suggest darking the back gound with a layer overlay of completely backing it out. As the over punch to the leaves with such a shallow depth of field is not natural looking of adding the needed puch to this photograph. Just my humble comment. MJ

yes, you're right, the leaves look slightly psychedelic.

I was so mesmerized by the bird that I apparenlty forgot to look around ;-)

Hi Sam........ these little fella's are quite colourful in a drab sort of way. A mixture of browns, blacks and creams that I don't think the dusk light did justice to.

Accepted, that the leaves look somewhat strange, I thought I'd play around in PS in terms of colour correcting as well as cropping out some of the greenery.
