This young cub (one year old) was lazing around before he finally sat

up and took notice of my camera while his brother/sister still lay

asleep by his side

I love this series Art.  The presentation is fabulous. I'd be surprised if you didn't end up doing a book or the Zoo wanted you to do some type of 'presentation'. Another wonderful image and excellent editing.  Such awesome creatures.  Cheers to you and kind regards, Gail

Love the light! He's doing his best to look ferocious for his age (and it's working).

The other cub off to the side is a tad distracting. Also, if you would get rid of the bolt heads in the wood it would give it a more "natural" look.

Another superb image in this series!  The intense gaze is common to all big-cats, at least in my experience.  You have captured if very well in this photo, with just enough additional detail to provide a well-balanced composition.

These shots would make a great poster collection...

Gorgeous kitty! Love the expression and pose. Really great series, Art.  A small question is what is the small blurry silver band just off his right paw - maybe a ring for a chain or something is what I imagine - maybe it could be cloned out. All the best, Anne

Thanks everyone for your thoughts/comments. Hans, you make a good point about the bolts, they are very artificial in the scene. I think the young cub to the left is only partly distracting more so due to the highlight of him/her rather than its presence in the shot. What I mean is, perhaps I should have reduced light tones so that although it remains in the scene it also remains of greater secondary significance to the view. Thanks for your input mate

Ann I admit this small but evident part of the image escaped me initially. It's actually a small branch in front of his paw and the blurred effect is a result of DoF. Thanks for pointing it out.

Gail/ Dave. Thank you for your kind words. I have had the good fortune of late to have had my primate images sold and published  in magazines and newspapers through out Europe and Asia. There is a keen interest in my Sumatran Tiger series too. When I feel I have the 'right' compilation of images I plan on doing the same with this series.

Photonet is a fantastic medium to receive critique to help improve my images where oversights in editing and or composition have occurred on my behalf

(I'll try and add a revised version)

Thanks again everyone

Revised version is spot on! Very well done!

Also, thanks for the inspiration on working with Light.

Here is one I did a while ago, though nowhere near as nice as yours.

Excellent - yeah really works well to play down the second tiger - except for some attention to his or her closed eye- which is a great detail.  Overall, the main subject pops out more in the revision. And the cloning on the bolts and branch worked great! Warm regards,

I, too like this series.  Amazing the different expressions these animals get.  This should have been the king of beasts, as it is bigger tougher and certainly better looking.

I am sorry I missed this Art.Outstanding image details are superb. The only thing I would change is I would make the other tiger on the left vanish and I know if anyone has that ability its you :) Great work Art

thank you all for your feedback. Chris, always nice to hear from you. I too see the second tiger in the background somewhat distracting and after some feedback I have provided another version for viewer's deliberation. I think its a better option than this one. cheers mate
