jmcconnell2 0 Posted March 5, 2011 Very good portrait John, the lighting brings out her face, the rope is distracting. Link to comment
andrzejp 6 Posted March 5, 2011 Very well done portrait with splendid light. Harsh rope and soft skin contrast in a dramatic way. Link to comment
benhuybrechts 0 Posted March 5, 2011 Very nice portrait. I only wonder about the rope, it takes away the focus from an excellent portrait. Ben Link to comment
kombizz 15 Posted March 5, 2011 great portrait wih an excellent work and lovely makeup - not sure why you used those ropes as props - hope she is ok, because love too see more of her Link to comment
jrickert 0 Posted March 6, 2011 Beautiful. I like the rope here. I would also like to see this portrait without it. Great lighting and pose. I am glad I can see both her eyes here. Her eyes are very beautiful. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted March 6, 2011 John,Melissa is a very pretty girl. You have focused very well on her eyes. I love her skin tone and make-up. She has good eye contact with the camera (viewer) and a pleasant expression. The specular highlights on her lips are very good. The background is nicely neutral and she is well separated from it. The color saturation and contrast are very good. She has good catchlights, but I would like to see then a little larger and on her irises rather than in the middle of her pupils. They look like a reflection from the built-in flash on your camera. There is a hair running across her right eye that is rather bothersome. While the left and right compositional balance is very good, you have cropped quite far into her head. To get a good top and bottom compositional balance you would have to do a tighter crop on the bottom. It might have been better to give her some headroom on top.The color of the rope goes beautifully with her hair, but like Kombizz mentioned, it is hard to find a reason for the rope. Props in a portait should add meaning to the photograph. Everything in the picture should coordinate with everything else. Everything that is in the portrait should be there for a reason and should help tell the story of the subject. If there was a boat, dock or perhaps a gallows in the background it would make sense to include the rope. Nice shot,Mark Link to comment
songtsen 0 Posted March 26, 2011 I found the rope distracting at first but the contrast with the model's hair is actually quite interesting. Link to comment
