Fall Creek Canyon

This just begs to be looked at large, and I highly recommend that folks take the time to look at the larger view.  Wonderful sense of space and perspective too.  That low-hanging wispy mist adds ever so much to the image.  I really love all of the shades of green and tones in the forest canopy.  Well seen and captured, John.  Cheers!  Chris

This is shot from an overlook at Fall Creek Falls State Park in middle Tennessee.  (here in TN., it's middle, not central...east Tn, not eastern TN...etc. :)   There are several great waterfalls in the park, but the best is referred to as Fall Creek Falls...which is the highest waterfall east of the Mississippi. It's approximately 285 feet high...about 100 feet taller than Niagra. As I write, we have flooding in the area and I'm certain that the falls is offering a magnificent sight.  The hike to the bottom is just short of treacherous...especially when it's this wet.  I made the hike a couple of years ago after heavy rains, but failed to consider  the spray from the heavy volume of water striking the rocks below...so I got very few shots for fear that I'd fry my camera.  The closest you could get to the falls without the heavy spray was about 100 yards, and at that distance...the view of the falls was heavily obstructed by the forest.  I plan on going back later in the spring when the leaves green things up a bit and hopefully...finally...get some decent shots from down below.   But enough about the falls!  Thanks again for your comments!   Regards...John
