maarten 0 Posted February 3, 2003 I'm wondering whether it would have been better without the fill flash: black palm tree against impressive sky and reflecting water. But I assume to took shots like that as well if you have a subject like this. Link to comment
daniel_anctil 0 Posted February 3, 2003 My impression is that the flash did not bring anything more to the picture. I would have prefered the black silhouette of the palm tree just like the one in the top right corner. I must say that you may have lost detail in the sand in the foreground if you didn't use the flash though... Anyway, nice picture and beautiful sky!!!! Link to comment
gaetanchevalier 5 Posted February 4, 2003 Superb capture of a sunset. Great composition, photo is rich in colors and details. Bravo! Link to comment
alexa_bell 0 Posted February 4, 2003 Very beautiful shot. I love how the tilting palm trees echo each other. Colors are superb. Link to comment
jamesmorophotography 0 Posted February 4, 2003 That is an absolutely incredible sunset! the colors and radiance are surreal. however, I think the small portion of the beach is a distraction from the sunset. Try cropping the image up to the tree in the foreground. Link to comment
ian_macdonald2 0 Posted February 4, 2003 Spectacular colour & the lean on that palm tree has to be seen to be beliieved. Link to comment
neil_lupin 0 Posted February 4, 2003 its superb, although I would agree with others that eliminating the fill flash in Photoshop to make the tree a silhouette would be very easy and would dramatically improve the shot. Stunning. Where was it?? Link to comment
przemek_rozbicki 0 Posted February 4, 2003 Fantastic photo, the impression is spoiled only by the flash but, anyway, I want more such photos ;) Link to comment
chris_sargent 0 Posted February 4, 2003 This is a beautiful picture and I was immediately drawn to it! But I tend to agree with most of the other comments, that the tree should be a silhouette. Maybe the whole palm tree silhouette thing is a bit over-done, but in this case the sunset itself is so spectacular that the tree is a bit distracting. Link to comment
ptucci 0 Posted February 5, 2003 As soon as I saw the thumbnail, I knew people would be biting their nails over the fill. I like it. Allow me to suggest a third possibility: burn down the values on the tree to make it less in-your-face, and warm up the light on the tree a little bit. I won't post it, but I just tried it out. Again, you've taken a beautiful picture. Link to comment
iro_byron 0 Posted February 5, 2003 Well surely with the flash it's different than the regular sunset sihouettes we see around each day. Choosing to use the flash was a sign of originality in a way and I appreciate it just that way. Lovely colours and all, well done ! Link to comment
naked_photographer_paulie_ 0 Posted February 5, 2003 Lovely Pic,,,,,,very nice. Cheers Link to comment
oldowl 0 Posted February 6, 2003 I like this just the way you shot it.I've seen a lot of trees silhouetted against the sunset. I have several myself. That is kind of the way we have got used to seeing this type of picture. I think that the additional detail inproves the picture. 7/6 Link to comment
morey_kitzman 0 Posted February 6, 2003 Wow. The fill flash provides just enough light to make the palm in the foreground interesting. Link to comment
chuck e 0 Posted February 6, 2003 Wonderful, rich colours. It looks like the horizon's on fire. Link to comment
critter_vision 0 Posted February 6, 2003 this is incredibly beautiful. while i dont think the flash ruined the picture, it definitely did not, i do think that the tree silhouetted, as a few others have said, would probably be more effective. either way, this shot is gorgeous. Link to comment
don_bloom 0 Posted February 6, 2003 Spectacular sunset! The fact that the fill flash on the palm tree is a different color temperature than that of the sunset does bother me. Your folder shows great creativity on your part and indicates that you wouldn't have much difficulty adjusting the color of the near palm tree highlights. Link to comment
detlef 6 Posted February 6, 2003 excellent exposed forground....spectacular sunset and composition Link to comment
richard van hoesel 0 Posted February 6, 2003 First of all, yes you certainly captured a beautiful sky in this image. Although I agree the fill looks a little unnatural, the elements where I see most room for improvement are in adjusting the brightness of the rightmost quarter of the image and framing the shot so that the main palm didn't touch the top.
