chrbea 0 Posted March 2, 2011 make-up looks weird but I like the resulting photo. The flowers are a little distracting though. 6/7 Link to comment
tony-mistretta 0 Posted March 2, 2011 The young woman is very pretty, but the eyes are overdone in my opinion. I like the flowers surrounding her head, but the position of the resebush branches at the bottom appears rather awkward. I'd like to see just a head and shoulders portrait surrounded by the topmost flowers. Link to comment
AlainD 0 Posted March 2, 2011 Technically impressive, as always! Very pretty model with a dress that suits her perfectly. The make-up seems very complex and well executed... but I don't really like it here. It gives the strange impression that the eyes have no external border or even that she was injured. Also, one of the main light comes from above and I think my brain sees the black make-up under they eyes as very pronounced and hard shadows. The background is too heavy for my taste too. It draws attention away from the beauty of the subject.I'd love to see the same model with the same dress and a more classical make-up in front of a more simple background with the same lighting!Just my sincere opinion.Best regards,Alain Link to comment
tore 10 Posted March 2, 2011 Thanks for your comments, we photographed in a large greenhouse with a promise not to stand in the flower-beds, we were ok to take pictures there. It limited the placement of the model.Personally like this picture and the environment. After a long winter in the studio, it was fun to be out "on location" again. There are variants of other plants and backgrounds later in the series. I will post some of them later on.The idea of the makeup was that it would look "Japanese inspired" and a bit arty not the classic beauty makeup.Best regards Tore Link to comment
Not Here 93 Posted March 2, 2011 Tore... I see a "Cleopatra" look to this young lady and because it is out of the ordinary, it is very acceptable. Your detail and lighting is superb. I do catch myself wishing the bra was not visible, but it's a natural occurrence and to be expected... Great shot... Mike Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted March 3, 2011 I realize space was limited Tore, however I find the sharpness of the roses in the background to be somewhat distracting. Something which can be easily fixed after the fact. I also toned them down just a bit as those bright splashes of color tend to divert your eyes somewhat. Link to comment
lintrathen 15 Posted March 3, 2011 Hi Tore........ my thoughts have all been conveyed to you by the posters above so it just leaves me to thank you for this "Make-up" series.I am learning a lot from your images and the critiques.... all that I hope will guide me as I slowly learn about portraiture and indeed make-up. I am keeping my eye on this folder in your portfolio. Thanks again.Regards. Link to comment

GailAnthonyHarmer 6 Posted March 15, 2011 I agree with Michael, the eyes do have that Cleopatra look. Lovely to see a location where there are roses out. We have a ways to go yet in Canada, She is lovely, I'm sure the fragrance must have been just as lovely as well. Kind regards, Gail Link to comment
