I know it seems to be a popular trend to have everything in the background as just a blur, but I don't think it should be taken as a rule as there are so many other possibilities as you have aptly demonstrated here, To answer your question, no I don't think it's too busy at all. Colourful, interesting, different yes, Busy? No........ I also like the diagonal stem and the natural frame of the background poppy, suffice to say great colour and detail, and well done for daring to be different!
