I posted another version of this and had a comment that I should try

adjusting the cyan. I totally agree and this version is so much better.

Your thoughts?

nice soft tones and good focus. highlights near the edges tend to pull the eye off, but otherwise a very nice, soft, pastel, flower shot

Tim and Jim,

Thanks for the comments!  I don't know enough about pp to adjust the highlights on the outer petals.

Just something to be aware of when framing your composition, otherwise some edge burning is a possibility but difficult with brighter whites. Perhaps a thin frame for something like this to hold the eye inside the photo. Just a suggestion.

Diane, do you work with layers at all?  If so, you can make a layer and adjust the brightness for the outer petals and paint back the inner part.  If you aren't using layers, it's worth finding some free tutorials and learning how to do them.

Kim,

Thanks for the suggestion.  I'm not even close to doing layers yet - still trying to figure out the curves and training my eye to see when they need to be adjusted.  One of these days!

Can't be better! It has sharpness, contrast and brightness perfectly balanced and looks like it will get out of the frames (the rose)! Congratulations Diane!

Cheers!

Lovely sense of softness even with the sharp details you have captured. Very nicely done. I would suggest cloning out the blimish on the left petal. This really puts the emphasis on the color and lines of the blossom. Well done. - Charles

Pierre and Charles,

Many thanks for the compliments!  I actually printed this out today and plan to frame it.  Charles - I didn't even notice the blemish until you mentioned it. That will give me some good practice on cloning.  Thanks.

The whole folder is really lovely, but I think that this one is the best.

The system won't let me give it a seven right now.
