Heinz, nice work with this image and very interesting and unique, black and white works here but I would bet that the colour images if fantastic... Well done... MJ

I say life photo because it isn't just a portrait, it shows a phenomena which hides some great secret of the human kind itself! The question is why they do such a grotesque and senseless thing with their body, face that is!

About the color versus B&W, I can only say that the color one is a great color picture and the B&W one is a great B&W picture! Maybe the color one is more appropriate as a documentary study of this phenomena called by me body decoration!

thanks for your comments regarding the two photos. I agree as a reportage the colour photo ids better. You are right it is very grotesque. I have been told, that it is a tradition, which started with the slave trade. The women put the disk into the lower lip to appear ugly and therefore they were not captured.

Still today once they get married (very young) they start to put smaller disks and witht the time the bigger ones.

i don't know, if it is just an urban legend or true
