Somewhere between Utah and California. I was trying for a shiny feel but that

didn't work out, so instead this old print look... does it work? Thanks for your

comments and suggestions...

This is actually a photograph of Lembert Dome and glacial erratics (in the foreground).  This is located in the Tuolumne Meadows portion of Yosemite National Park in the Sierra Nevadas of California.  I very much like the 'old' feel you've given to this image too.  Good work.  Cheers!  Chris

I think your "antiqued" looks works quite well, especially the choice of B&W rather than sepia for this landscape. A couple of suggestions - adding a slight vignette helps with the aging process. Another trick is to scan a really old, worn and tatty photo and use the border for your photo - you can even paint in the cracks and creases, as in the attached example. Cheers, RickDB

ChrisH is correct in his identification of this as Lembert Dome, I've probably stood exactly where you stood to take this photograph numerous times.

I like your aging of this.  It very much reminds me of turn-of-the-century USGS photos of the area as they began documenting the unique, monolithic formations found throughout Yosemite.  I think you might have been a little heavy-handed with the contrast but I still think it's a creative interpretation of one of the lesser photographed domes.

Thanks so much for all your comments!

Chris, thanks a lot for identifying it and providing a location. It was more helpful than just for this one. I see that I've mixed up my Yosemite negatives with the rest of the four-corners states.

Rick, may thanks for your pointers. Also, for a great example... everything in it fits so perfectly! I don't have any prints as old as yours! This is a negative scan, not a print scan... although I tried to put in a border using a Polaroid effect filter..

Jeff, thanks also for the identification and the info. Some of my badly exposed/processed negatives were showing blocked shadows, so I thought it was ok. I found that "old photo" filters simply don't seem to work well on, well.. old photos!
