pnital 36 Posted February 25, 2011 Another scene of a new choreography by Alice Dor- Cohen ,choreographer and dancer.Very unusual idea for a dance.(its content in brief): It is called "ONE", and it talks about the three monotheistic religions, their spirituality, differences and similarity of prayers for human being, that can be harmonious. The wall is symbolizing an inner mountain and elevation.Dancers: Jonathan Soutchy, liron Ozeri, Idan PorgesThanks for viewing Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted February 25, 2011 I'm still lurking out here. Hope all is well with you and yours. What a dramatic image this is. Tough light as is often the case with what you shoot, but handled expertly as is always the case with your images. Cheers Link to comment
Donna Stavis 0 Posted February 25, 2011 Pnina, dramatic companion to the climbing piece. The golden light illuminates effectively in a triangle below the fallen man, with his arm and the other's leg helping compose this geometric figure, leading the eye from head and expanding the emotion of his death. Years ago, I walked by a cat that had been run over at the entrance to a parking lot. It was sunset with golden light and another cat -- his friend perhaps -- smelling the death. It was such a sad, lonely scene that stuck with me. It occurs to me that our deaths become more imbued with "pathos" when seen from the eyes, experienced, by others. By themselves, perhaps they are simply like trees fallen in forests. Here the two companions help direct our look, but the gold -- a positive color of value -- really extends the story -- adding to the meaning. The dead one seems to wear a kitel -- a burial gown. jeffl7 0 Posted February 26, 2011 The stage lighting really works here. I like the sense of gold beneath the middlemost man. Nicely handled. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted February 26, 2011 Dave, Thanks , you are a lurker, yes, but it is a pleasure when you "surf" to my part of PN...;-)) I hope you are well but have other priorities.Donna, thanks for your nice comment , feeling, and memories. As I wrote it was a very unusual theme for a dance. In the begining each of the dancers have had a sool part( one" religion") and than the 3 of them started to climb the mental ( physical on stage( .At the end they all developed a harmony, of "prayer" . Life and death, and human life between heaven and earth, were a strong feeling the choreography stirred in me.Jeff, Mehmet and Ruud, thanks for your feedback, on all of them. The stage light is always a guid for me to build the composition. gordonjb 10,860 Posted February 27, 2011 Iconic, almost biblical in feel. As mentioned by Jeff, the triangular fall of light below the suspended figure become the light that binds the cast. Link to comment
3m 0 Posted February 28, 2011 A dramatic capture, Pnina, and beautifully composed, imo. (and I note the triangular movement of the dancers & light as well) The subdued colors work perfectly against the black of the BG. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted March 1, 2011 Tony Tolo and Jim, thanks for your nice feedback and your feeling of drama which is accurate here.Gord , it IS a biblical narrative, it was a project idea in Jerusalem with 3 days seminar about the tree religions,( which Jerusalem is the right place... all three of them are present there) and only after it, started the creation that took time to realize.Marjolein the triangular setting speaks about the relations of the three monotheistic religions. "Life as a dance" is well realized here....;-)) Link to comment
