Any comments or suggestions to improve the image? How to clone the cloud to

a different place? I tried but the underlying blue shades are different.

A beautiful image that has been superbly composed and captured. Living in an area that gets lots of snow and is completely covered in snow at this time, I tend to see the 'blue snow' in the shaded areas often.

I see it here mostly on the left side of your image. When I compare the color of the shaded snow on the left side with other shaded snow areas it seems to be more blue. Perhaps it is because the left side is darker.

This is a very minor distraction for me and still love the image 'as is' and you definitely should not trash it. I would have been proud to have taken it.

All the best and thanks for sharing.

Thanks Tony for your kind words. Yes the left side was dark, very dark, and I had a difficult time pulling up the shadows without leaving a blue cast, or a magenta cast from rapidly deteriorating colors.

Definitely NOT trash!  First... identification (since I know you're struggling with these).  I believe this is the talus slope on the eastern end of Ellery Lake, leading up to the Dana Plateau (at the top of the cliffs in your image). However, your film scan is reversed ;)

It's not trash because I think your photograph exemplifies the beauty and desolation of the Eastern Sierras!  I think that including the lake in your composition might have provided a bit more context  but it's exclusion makes no difference to those who don't know it's there.  The contrast between the blue sky and jagged minarets is really fantastic.

I agree that some time might be spent in post adjusting the white balance in the shaded areas that appear quite blue but other than that, it looks beautiful.

The attached image was taken of the same slope from the spillway crossing (and is properly oriented).

Beautiful landscape capture and the exposure is so well set, again the DOF is so effective and did bring out the very fine details here while the solid blue tone of the sky and the rest colors of this place do enhanced the quality of this image.

Thank you for sharing it and wishing you all of the best.

Thanks Jeff and Rashed for your comments a lot!

Jeff, I like your shot, and now kind of feel stupid for flipping the image to make it not trash... I see the downside :( i don't even remember the lake! But that was a long day, San Jose to Yosemite and back, I also whizzed by the Golden Gate at 2 a.m. that night. Now that I am not in the US any more, I sorely miss not having bunked work and conferences more. These muddled memories really seem to be a wake up call to put my life in order... and plan for more time to enjoy nature...

Thanks for inspiring me to spend some more time on this image...

Re the blue cast, lasso the dark rock areas and using adjustment masks, you can work on the color/lightness etc. This is a solid image worth sharing.
