Continuing on my review of 2011 work. A friend began organizing mini-

workshops in February. These have 4 to 5 models and 8 to 10

photographers. This was from the first of these.

Hi Mark,

I like the naturalistic feel to this very much. Lately, the over-processed images here often render the model feel lifeless and almost like a mannequin. In contrast, your portraits and models always feel natural. This is no exception to that.

Starvy - Thank you so much for seeing the natural beauty in my work. With very few exception I do no skin retouching. I will remove temporary blemishes and have done some selective smoothing as a special request for a couple of models. I find that women are terrific just as they are. The "imperfections" that many photographers will "correct" are just a part of who my subject is, something I try to celebrate. I appreciate that you like this photograph.

Starvy has a good point. That said, I do think it is good to see a selection of different styles. While I like this, compositionally I would prefer that you hadn't cropped the right breast.

David - Thank you for commenting on my work again. I agree that variety is terrific in photography. I have my personal preferences which I would not expect anyone else to follow. My comment is specifically aimed at those who do so much skin processing that it winds up looking like plastic. 

I see your point about her right breast but I was trying to de-emphasize the nudity, while retaining it, by cropping this way.
