Stormy clouds over the serene lake could not prevent the light from the

breaking sunlight coming from the left. The red areas in the mountains are

bonfires set up by campers over the night. Taken on a 70 seconds single

exposure. Thank you for viewing and please "click" image for a larger view.

I am glad I looked at this larger. The quality of light is amazing. I love how the golden pink glow spreads across the sky.  I looked at your tech details and see "other" for your metering mode. I am just curious if you used a hand held light meter? I have been reading about different metering methods in difficult light situations.

Those fires are huge, I hope they don't set that hill on fire.

Linda, it's a pleasure to read your comment. The exif data showed "other" in the metering mode because I placed the exposure setting to "B" and exposed this particular scene for 70 seconds at f8. I had other exposures from 2,3,5 and even 12 minute exposures of the scene each presenting a different rendition. The lens I used was a Nikon 20mm prime lens with a remote shutter release. Thanks and best regards! - Lester

Hi lester

Really beautiful long exposure, it really has to be seen large to fully appreciate the colours and textures.

Very well done!

Best Regards

Kind of dramatic, yet very nice! The long exposure made some kind of painterly look and by me that's good! The impression of stormy sea is also present. Very nice atmosphere, as I said first of all - dramatic!

Cheers Lester!

I love the mood and the fact that with that long exposure, you were still able to get some ripples or patterns in the water. Super job!
