My finders were freezing to the tripod at dawn, as I waited for the sun to rise.

Although misty/smoggy, it was still an amazing sight watching the golden

fingers appear on the distant cliffs... I pulled up the shadows, they are not as

clearly visible when the slide is projected. Thanks for your comments and

suggestions...

I like the composition, but the colors feel a bit oversaturated to me.  I especially notice this in the blues in the shadows.

I concur with Scott. It is an amazing place at an amazing moment. Still, the blues in the shadows are electric, which really look overcooked. As well, even though you are not providing a Larger preview, I can see the dust specks in the sky. Needs some tidying up. I love the reds in the opposite canyon wall. Minor adjustments can make this special!

Thank you Scott and Mark. I replaced this with a re-edit. Maybe it's better? Previous edit is here (with this post). There is very little green in the image. The slide is a dark blue frame with a few red lines at the top, so I actually had to pull the blue down and increase warmth. The blue pops right in when I put in a neutral black point, so it's probably just part of the image. Also, somehow I don't expect the Grand Canyon to be free of blue cast on a mid-winter dawn. I also managed to recall more about the shoot while fiddling with the recovery sliders. This was a 10 second exposure and I could barely see anything in the dark and with the chilly wind on my eyes. I was the only one with a tripod for half an hour, till a Canadian showed up with pro gear and added variety to the throng of Indian and Japanese sightseers.
